
Webinar series: On Men and masculinities - From change and crises to empowerment
The aim of the webinar series is to raise awareness and spark debate on masculinities and the role of men in society in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
The webinars provide a forum to discuss how the changing social norms and gender stereotypes impact men and boys and how the social transformation can be used to harness positive change. Furthermore, the webinars provide reflections on gender-responsive policymaking, with a specific focus on men’s well-being and their role in strengthening gender equality in society.

The online events provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experience among researchers, policy makers and civil society representatives from the Nordic and Baltic countries and beyond.
The webinar series is organised by the Council for Gender Equality of Finland (Tane) and the Central Association of Men’s Organizations in Finland and funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Webinar 1: Masculinities as a tool to well-being and empowerment

In what ways have male-focused approaches benefited both men and their families? How can we work with the different notions of masculinity to support men in accessing services and to ensure that the support systems in place also benefit men? This webinar focuses on different approaches to masculinities as a key tool to support and empower men.

Why is it fundamental for any society to ensure that men are supported and empowered in such situations? This webinar focuses on practical work with men in crisis situations.

Webinar 3: Men and gender equality policies

Legislation, policies and support systems form a framework that shapes us all as members of society. To what extent are men’s specific needs responded in today’s society? How is the role of men and masculinity viewed in in the policymaking? This webinar focuses on different policy approaches and their impact on men’s well-being, parenthood and gender equality.
